Inspired by her role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, actress Mariska Hargitay founded the Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004 to help survivors heal and reclaim their lives. Since then, Joyful Heart has evolved into a national organization with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Honolulu. Joyful Heart’s mission is to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, and to shed light into the darkness that surrounds these issues. Neighborhood House provides free services that are culturally and linguistically relevant to immigrants, refugees, public housing residents, and low-income community members in King County.
